The best (sweet) popcorn in the world
I love popcorn! Salty or sweet, it is the best snack at parties or for a movie night. However, do not bother me with microwave popcorn or ready made popcorn. It is too much fun to pop popcorn kernels and stovetop popcorn just tastes so delicious. I used to pop the kernels in sunflower oil and then sprinkle either salt or sugar over the popcorn. But recently I ran out of sunflower oil and while digging through my kittchen looking for an alternative, I found clarified butter and had a brilliant idea. Why not mixing the sugar with the molten butter and pop the kernels in there? No sooner said than done! The result: The best sweet popcorn in the world. The ingredients: Clarified butter, sugar and popcorn kernels.
And this is how to make the popcorn:
Melt
2 tbsp of clarified butter
on slowly on low heat in a thick-bottomed saucepan. Add
1-2 tbsp sugar (depending on how sweet you like your popcorn to get)
and mix well with the molten butter. Turn the heat on high. Put one or two popcorn kernels in the hot butter. When you see little bubbles around them, the butter is hot enough. Add
100 g popcorn kernels
in an even layer. The kernels should just about cover the bottom of the saucepan and not sit on top of each other. Cover the pot.
As soon as you hear the kernels pop, lower the heat to medium. Keep the lid on and shake the pan once in while so that all kernels will pop. Once the popping stopped, put the popcorn in a big bowl and enjoy it!
